3 layouts just because

Hi!
I got my hands on the Authentique "Suave" collection kit yesterday & have done 3 quick & easy layouts last night and today.  I love this masculine collection - perfect for boy pages!

Here is the first layout I did:

Photos of my little man 10 years ago!!  He had his face painted when we went to some markets, but we can't remember what he was.  I thought he was a crocodile, but when I asked him, he thought he was a dinosaur.  Dinosaur sounds very plausible considering his major love affair with the extinct reptiles!

My second layout is also a very basic one:

Jefferson bear is essentially a reward for "student of the week" at my son's primary school.  As you can imagine, he has done the rounds & been loved by lots of kids.  The kids take care of Jefferson for one week, until he is awarded to the next student of the week.  The week Mitchell was awarded Jefferson, he shared the bear with his mate.  Both Mitchell and his mate received the award in recognition of their hard work and effort in overcoming daily challenges they both faced.  It was a pretty special reward that came at just the right time in the midst of a particularly challenging time in Mitchell's life.

My third layout features my husband:

I love this photo of my husband - taken many years ago!  Again, another simple clean layout.  I had some fun with the chipboard - I painted it with gesso, then smothered it with DecoArt dimensional effects.  Once this was dry and I had some awesome texture (which you can't really see in the photos), I spritzed it, then dabbed on some Viva Inka Gold.  I love the effect it gave me.  I treated the title the same way, minus the dimensional effects and covered it in dimensional magic instead.

I'm pretty happy with these 3 layouts that came together quickly.

Thanks for stopping by.
Until next time,

Page Drafts May Challenge

Good morning - what a glorious day today!

Page Drafts had an interesting topic this month - "One of a Kind"!

CHALLENGE CRITERIA
Its all about celebrating that
'ONE OF A KIND'
extraordinary someone, something, experience or event!

THEME
You can of course scrap about your beautiful mother,  the experience and wonderment of motherhood or maternal bonds that are the glue that keeps your family together, but lets keep that optional. You may instead want to scrap about something extraordinary or that special something because its unique and there is nothing else quite like it. Or alternatively you could include the phrase 'ONE OF A KIND' in your title work, journaling and or quote.

PICK A TEMPLATE
You must use one of the 5 sketches from the 'ONE OF A KIND'  Page Drafts Release #30.
You may rotate the sketches any which way your heart desires however your creation must remain as close as possible to the original sketch design.

The template I decided to go with was this one:

And now for my layout:

Thank you so much for dropping in.

A2Z Scraplets May challenge

Hi there.  Considering we just had Mother's Day earlier this month, I wanted to scrap a photo of mum and I taken at our Mother's Day lunch.  We had a lovely lunch at the local golf club with a dessert to die for.  (needless to say, I worked extra hard at gym the next day!!)

When trawling through blogs, I came across the challenge on the A2Z Scraplets blog about, what else but, "MOTHER'S".  How could I pass that up.  We could scrap us as mother's or about our own mother.  I chose the latter, since I have so many pages of my kids & me.

Scrap FX Fan sketch/mood board challenge

Good morning!!   A little bit cooler this morning in my neck of the woods, but now that the clouds have gone it is turning into a splendid day.

I found the fan sketch/mood board challenge on the Scrap FX blog and fell in love with it.  I had to give it a go.

First here is the sketch and the mood board…

How beautiful is that mood board?!  I was totally inspired by the teals (one of my most favourite colours) and pinks and also the essence of love.  The gold also grabbed me, but didn't end up featuring on my finished layout.

So, I guess I should show you my layout…

These colours are actually deeper than the layout…still having trouble somewhere between the photo in my photo library and the uploaded photo on the blog!

(this photo is probably the closest to the real colours)

I used my Silhouette Cameo for the first time on this layout.  Once I get my head around it all, I can see it getting a great workout.  It certainly has lots of potential!  I actually cut out the saying on white card stock then coloured it, ombre style with my pink spritz mixed with gesso.  I am really happy with how it turned out - I haven't tried to do that before.

The chipboard was painted with gesso and while it was still wet I sprinkled a little embossing powder over the flowers and heat set it.  (I wanted a random coverage).  I also heat embossed the arrow.

Products used:
Heidi Swapp paper
Scrap FX chipboard
Gesso
Dimensional Magic
Spray mists
Embossing powders
Vivaldi crystal blossoms
Prima & Kaisercraft flowers
ZVA Creative pearl flourish
Prima resins
Tim Holtz Arrow
Glass butterfly beads
Silhouette Cameo

Thanks so much for stopping by.
Until next time,

Scrap the Boys May challenge

Good morning!

I have to admit that I've never actually scrapped a page of my husband by himself!  Don't get me wrong, he features in my pages, with the kids or myself or in family photo pages, but never a page of him by himself.  So, with this months Scrap the Boys challenge:  Let’s get ‘GRUNGY/MESSY’ for May, I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to scrap him.  I used a photo taken many years ago of the workbench he made himself using recycled timber from renovations we did in our first house. It would have been in the late 1990's. He was rightly proud of himself and I love this photo I had taken of him.

Here is my layout:

I painted a sheet of Kraft with Distress Paint (picket fence) and let it dry, not really knowing what effect I would end up with.  But I have to say I was very impressed with the end result!  It gave me exactly the crackle effect I was hoping for, which I then used as the base for my layout.

Products used:
Chipboard
Kraft
Paper:  Echo Park Reflections Botanical
Distress Paint:  Picket Fence
Mists:  Lindy's Stamp gang in Mission Bells Brown, Midnight Rendezvous Raven & Dark Choc Truffle
as well as Tattered Angels in Tattered Leather
Embossing Powders:  Copper, Gold, Black, Silver
Chipboard:  A2Z Scraplets, Memory Maze, Kaisercraft & Dusty Attic
Prima Nuts & Bolts
Tim Holtz Gears

I really hope you like my page and thanks for looking!
Until next time,
Yvette x
