Boys will be Boys

Hi there!  I can't believe that we are now into March!  This year is going to fly by, quicker than last year I fear.

I have a boy layout to share with you today using gelatos!  I only dabble in mixed media - I find it a bit scary really.  I have tried my hand at mixed media in an art journal and really don't like what I have produced.  I guess it's just a matter of practicing more, but I don't have the patience.

Anyway, as I said I have used gelatos on this layout with texture paste.

I also love rainbows.  When I first created this background, I actually had different photos in mind to use, but as it all came together, I decided to use these photos of my son and his mate mucking around being 'boys'!  I quite like the end result and think I shall experiment a bit more with gelatos.

The other layout I have is another of my son, this time with his grandparents.  I have used the A2Z Scraplets mood board challenge as my inspiration - drawing on the yellow.  Such a happy colour!

Thanks for stopping by today.  Hop over to the A2Z Scraplets blog and check out the mood board challenge that is currently running for your chance to win a goodie bag full of A2Z chippies!!

Until next time, happy scrapping.

A2Z Scraplets Challenges are back!!

Hi there, yes it's true.  A2Z Scraplets have brought back monthly challenges!

This months challenge is a mood board to get your creative juices flowing.  Draw your inspiration from this beautiful mood board to create your masterpiece - BTP, cards, layouts, anything you like…including an A2Z Scraplet of course!

Heres the lovely mood board:

Now heres my layout…

As you can see, I was inspired by the butterflies from the mood board.  To create this layout I actually used the part of a sticker sheet you would ordinarily discard.  I simply left all the butterflies on the backing sheet and adhered the outlines to my card stock.  I then randomly attached a few butterflies after powdering the backs (to remove the stickiness) so I could shape the wings to stand up from the page.

This closeup of the title "Never stop dreaming", was simply coated in white gesso, then embossed with a white glitter embossing powder, as well as LSG pink embossing powder for the word dreaming.  The  original pink colour was the wrong shade to match the other pink in the layout, so I gave it a quick coat of chalk ink and when dry coated it with kindyglitz for sheen and glimmer.

Check out the A2Z Scraplets Facebook page and blog to see what other DT members have created using this mood board.  We can't wait to see what you create, so be sure to upload your layout onto our Facebook page in our March Challenge Album to be in the running for a fabulous pack of A2Z Scraplets goodies!  All entries must be in by the 25th March and the winner will be chosen by the number of likes an entry receives.  Gotta be in it to win it!!  Give it a go, got nothing to loose and some great chippies to gain!!

I am actually very inspired by the colours also in this mood board and can feel another layout coming on.  Check in soon to see what I have come up with.

Until next time, good luck with your challenge entry and happy scrapping!

Paris - take me back!!

Good morning!  Hope this beautiful Sunday is treating you well.  It's  been a loooonnng time since I have posted - my apologies, life has been too busy and I'm not sure anyone comes to visit anyway…

I created this layout of a photo of me taken in front of the Eiffel Tower from January last year, 2014 on a visit to see my daughter, who at the time, was on exchange for 6 months in Germany.  We did a flying 3 day trip to Paris together and had a blast!!  I think we successfully saw all the major sites worth seeing in that short time!

I used the beautiful Pion Design Paris Flea Market papers for this layout.

Also, while on the Paris photos, I have created another layout in front of the Eiffel Tower, but this time with a photo of my daughter, Emily and I.  I stumbled on a stunning layout on Pinterest that I have pretty much scrap lifted for this one, with some differences.

I used Fabscraps paper for this layout - as soon as I saw it I knew I had to have it for my special memories of Paris with my beautiful daughter.

Thanks so much for dropping by today.  Until next time….Happy scrapping,

Australia Day!!

Happy Australia Day!  What a wonderful reason to celebrate all things Australian - beach, sun, sand, thongs, BBQ's, the list goes on.

Given that it is still January, just, I thought I could get away with one more Christmas layout using A2Z Scraplets.

Close-ups of the chipboard:

I hope you have a great day celebrating this amazing country we live in.
Until next time, happy scrapping,

Treasure each Day

Hi there!  It's been quite a while since my last post.  So much has happened - between end of the school year celebrations, Christmas and New Year.  Add into that a very trying and sad time with the passing of a beautiful lady, my friend who was taken way too soon.  Cancer is a horrible insidious disease that claims way too many lives.  The positive I have managed to find in it all is to "Treasure each Day" and to "Choose Happy" because I know that is how Tracey lived her life.

Some closeups of the A2Z Scraplets chipboard I used.  These pieces were first painted with white paint, then I embossed them for some shine.  I was unhappy with that result, so I generously coated them with Kindyglitz for some shimmer.

Thank you so much for stopping by.  Until next time, Happy Scrapping,

Celebrating my girl!!

Hello again.
Today I thought I would share with you 2 layouts I did a couple of months ago for my DT position on the Three or More challenge blog, which is no longer running.   They are both of my daughter, Emily, simply because I am celebrating her success in being chosen as the lead in her school musical for next year.  She is beyond excited and I am so proud!

The first one is titled:  Laugh like noone is watching.
Emily has such a great sense of humour and when I saw this chipboard title I knew exactly the photos I would use.

The second one is from when Emily was quite young.  She loved to put her raincoat and gumboots on and play in the rain.  However, the raincoat and boots never lasted too long.

Thanks so much for stopping by.
Until next time, happy scrapping.

Sun, sand & surf - summer is here!!

Good morning!
Sharing some summery layouts today that I have for A2Z Scraplets DT.

First up is a summery one of my lovely daughter at the beach.

Next is something different for me - Project Life layout.  I have only done a few PL style pages that I have interspersed with my usual scrap layouts, when I have a number of photos I want to scrap.  I find it a fast and easy way to scrap lots of photos without too much fuss.  It's not for everybody and I couldn't only do PL layouts but it's fun to throw something different into the mix occasionally.

Thanks so much for stopping by today.  Until next time, happy scrapping.
